Every time I hit the gym this Match.com commercial happens to be on the TV. It features a really cute blonde girl in a leather jacket and what I am 99.9% positive is a t-shirt dress. And every time I’m like, “ya that look is perfect”. I can’t remember a thing about her accessories and you can’t see her shoes but just the simple combo of a kinda platinum lob haircut, leather jacket, and t-shirt dress is what I’m about. Basically it’s my dream summer outfit. And while I do wish I could pull off a platinum lob, the above look from Amy of The Little Magpie is my more style. This is outfit perfection – comfortable, easy, edgy, and cute. Boom done.
Now recreating this look for myself would be easiest if I had a leather jacket but knowing how picky I am that purchase might be a ways off. I’m very much into All Saints leather jackets and recently fell in love with this suede and leather version but I’m still holding out for the best “classic” leather jacket I can find because I feel like a leather jacket will totally change my life. If any of you own a leather jacket let me know if it’s weird that I think it’s a life changing purchase.
But it’s easier to find a t-shirt dress you can wear to death than your dream leather jacket, so I might as well style this backwards, from the t-shirt dress up. Just like a leather jacket, you can get a lot of mileage out of your t-shirt dress year round. It’s a casual go-to piece that can be worn around the house or dressed up for drinks. A t-shirt dress (or three) is a must-have piece for a solid wardrobe.
Nasty Gal Take the Shirt Cut Dress – This is the quintessential black t-shirt dress with crew neck and a-line shape.
Socialite High Neck Dress – This perfect sleeveless t-shirt dress also comes in black and navy but this lilac color looks so nice for spring. Who am I kidding, the price is right so I’d get it in black and lilac.
SUNDRY Asymmetrical Dress – This is the coolest most true to style t-shirt dress I’ve seen and made of a cotton-spandex blend.
Free People Beatnik Tunic – This tunic comes in a variety of colors but I love this plum color best. Comfortable and perfect for layering.
ASOS Sleeveless Midi Dress with Curved Hem – I needed at least one longer length t-shirt dress on here and this one is perfect. It has enough flow for that sexy feel but is still wonderfully casual.
Free People Ballet Fit and Flare – This dress is on the more intricate side but it still has that casual vibe for easy daytime wear. Another fun and flirty piece that is perfect for layering with a jacket.
CLAYTON June Dress – Simple, classic shape. Incredibly easy to wear and features a slightly longer hem in back.
Nasty Gal Two Live Crew Neck Dress – This dark gray t-shirt dress is so easy and cute. I love the elbow length sleeves which are tight enough to fit easily under any jacket.
ASOS Body-Conscious Dress With High Neck in Chunky Rib – For those who aren’t super into the flowy shape of a t-shirt dress, this body-conscious version still has the casual vibe we’re going for but plays nice with your curves.
Socialite Knit Swing Dress – I really wanted to use the black version of this dress but we have a few of those options so navy felt right. Again, another traditional t-shirt style dress with swingy hem.
