Beauty Basics – Recreate the Look J.Crew Spring 2016

Let’s talk Spring! The weather has been cooperating the past few days and I’m ready to bust out my spring makeup and try something new. I could opt for bold eyes and bright lips but let’s ease our way into spring and go for cool girl chic courtesy of J.Crew. I was at the mall the other day and stopped in J.Crew and found myself loving everything. So I came home and started browsing more online and the one thing that was consistent between the mall and home was that all the models looked effortless and fresh. I want effortless and I definitely want my skin to be fresh looking. My search lead me to J.Crew’s Spring/Summer 2016 Collection and tons of pictures of beautiful skin. It’s like my mind knew this is was the look I was going for.

Now that March is upon us, there’s no better time to start with spring fever than with this look. Beauty Basics is kicking off the season with a Recreate The Look from the latest J.Crew Collection. Soft, fresh, and dewy, just the way I wish my skin to be right now.

We’re going for a dewy face with this look but it will be subtle. Moisturize and then prime your face with Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonderglow. It’s a primer and light diffuser in one. I recently got my hands on a tube to try it out and my skin looks flawless. If you’re in need of coverage, apply your favorite foundation or spot conceal problem areas. Since my skin has been cooperating lately (thanks to a facial from Nichole Volpi from Dr. McKenna’s office…more on that another day) I would go with BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Foundation. It has been giving me enough coverage when combined with the Wonderglow and my go-to concealer. Finish off your complexion with RMS Living Luminizer forming a “C” shape around the eye area, and e.l.f. cosmetics Cream Blush Palette on the apples of the cheeks for a flush of color.

For the eyes we are keeping it simple. Brown eye liner along the upper lash line, no flicks, cat eyes or smokey looks here. Finish off with a few coats of mascara, a little bit of the same luminizer dabbed on the inner corner of the eye and that’s all there is to it.

Ending with the lips with one product and you’re out the door. Make sure you’re lips are hydrated (if you need some tips to help combat dry lips, check out this post) and apply a creamy lip stain from Clinique to finish off the look. I prefer a lip stain in this look because your skin will already be dewy and have a nice glow to it. Adding a gloss or a lip color with too much shimmer will make your look a little over done.
