Gucci’s Spring 2016 collection is pretty insane. Perfectly wonderful for editorials but not so wearable in daily life, right? Well my hope is that the outfits I put together over the next few weeks will show you how Gucci’s romantic geek chic can influence your everyday wardrobe. Even if just to inspire you to shake things up a bit and play around with color and pattern. That’s one of the things I love most about Gucci’s Spring 2016 collection, the use of color and pattern.
The next few weeks are going to be really vibrant and I am going to do my best to avoid black since it wasn’t a prevalent color in Gucci’s collection. Yes, I love black but there’s so much depth to these looks already so why fight it? Go for the punchy colors, the pastels, the textured pieces and prints. This collection plays off of the romance of spring with everything blooming and chirping and creates looks that are alive, but with playful pieces that just dip their toe into geek chic. These are amazingly colorful, slightly wacky outfits that will make you stand out in a crowd as completely comfortable in your own skin.
I had no plans to recreate this particular look until I found that sheer pink blouse from ASOS, which is perfect for one of these Gucci inspired outfits. The original outfit is pretty outrageous but I think I’ve taken it to a realistic level, still crazy just less crazy. The blouse and skirt are great together but the addition of the green bomber jacket is so funky and fun. The jacket does make the look more casual but you still have that full blown ladylike glam look with the colors, prints, heels, and jewelry. It’s a tad nerdy and buttoned up but still fabulous.
You know how I said the above outfit inspiration is crazy? Well, this is just as nuts. It looks like something out of a movie. The outfit I put together started with a dress that had a similar romantic vibe and grew from there. Then came a gorgeous shoe in a berry shade that complements the purples and teals in the dress. The accessories are where it gets really quirky though. I added a scarf which could be worn as a head or neck scarf and a ribbon choker to wear over the collar of the dress. This is romantic geek chic at its most confident.
