Yep, florals. You knew you couldn’t escape them, right? It is spring after all. Gucci’s spring florals are a little darker, a little more peasant style, and more grandma’s living room. There’s a mixture of bohemian and free-flowing with more buttoned up, ladylike, with a hint of nerd. I wanted to represent both of these styles here, the peasant, hippie style and tea time at grandma’s. There’s a softness to both looks, even the one that’s more buttoned up and reserved. But the underlying theme here is femininity with muted tones, soft colors, and exquisite details.

This look is all about the killer peasant style floral dress. Go for something with flow and ease. This is one of the few Gucci looks that included black, so go with a darker floral. We have black in the palette but it’s not the center of attention. The rest of the color palette is soft, muted, and rich in some areas like the bag and multicolored jacquard shoes. It’s very dark romantic with lace up heels and colorful statement earrings. There are a ton of lace up shoes available and I almost went with a simple black pair but when I saw the green and purple I couldn’t pass that up. If you want a more achievable look, go for simpler accessories with similar details like a structured bag or lace up shoes but in more everyday colors or patterns.

Grandma chic! Don’t let that descriptor deter you. This outfit is awesome. It’s so unique. It reminds me of young Tavi Gevinson with her spectacles and high necklines. That doesn’t mean you have to style this outfit exactly as I have, you can pick and choose. Maybe you love the floral print dress with the beret (I do!) but don’t want to wear loafers. That’s fine, go for some cute t-strap pumps or flats. With a look like this, there is no point in going with understated accessories. Double down on big bold retro pieces, like chunky rings and a printed or textured bag.
