How She’d Wear It with Style and Cheek – Ruffle Blouses

Ruffle blouses are pretty, they’re sexy, they’re feminine. What can I say about ruffles blouses that I haven’t already said about ruffles in general? I prefer ruffles in darker colors because they aren’t overly feminine or cutesy, which is probably why I ended up using two dark ruffle blouses in this post. It’s a sleeker look and lets the ruffle be the star of your shirt. But let’s talk about ruffle placement. Ruffles can be very flattering if they accentuate the right areas of your body. If you have great shoulders, an off the shoulder top with a ruffle can really accentuate that strength and keep eyes away from areas that you may not love as much. Likewise if you choose the wrong ruffle, you could end up not exactly looking your best. Keep your body type in mind when you pick out ruffle blouses.

The two looks today are great examples of how ruffles can really make a blouse pop, but as always they’re just templates. One with a subtle ruffled sleeve, the other with a dramatic Spanish style off the shoulder ruffle look. Try on as many ruffles as you can to find a blouse that is just as flattering as it is sexy and feminine.

7. Louise Et Cie ‘Abri’ Pointy Toe Ghillie Flat

An off the shoulder top like this one embraces the ruffle in a really sexy way. There’s a lot of sultry elements to this outfit, from the exposed shoulder to the a-line leather skirt, choker, and dark (specifically Essie’s Wicked) nails. Lace up flats are comfy and pretty and keep the look fairly casual. It’s a playfully retro look, that screams casual girls night out at an outdoor bar.

I love the drama of this inspiration photo, that combines the sheer and ruffle trends. As someone who loves wearing black, this adds the right amount of femininity and drama to an outfit without losing any of the attitude. And I really like the unexpected western elements with this look, perfect for all your cool spring/summer outdoor events. I couldn’t find a box clutch that was cool enough but I did find this amazing ‘hot lips’ bright as all getout clutch. Somehow, all of the items work well together to create a sexy, fun, borderline BAMF look.
