How She’d Wear It with Style and Cheek – Chunky Footwear

May is all about chunky footwear for spring and yeah I’m saying spring because it’s hot enough to wear these babies right now, but you can wear these styles all through summer and early fall. Chunky footwear is the IT shoe style of the season, ranging from ’70s inspired, to wooden heels, to clunky, chunky, and a little funky. There’s no delicate footwear in this roundup of spring shoe styles, they’re all really grounded and feature a lot of leather or have a big heel. Basically in a lot of ways, these are your mama’s clogs, but lighter-weight, more sleek (think these are big? check out what clogs used to look like back in the day), and definitely more comfortable.

But to be honest some of them are kinda on the ugly side. And that’s ok because suddenly ugly footwear is in! Tevas? In. All the shoes that are actually good for your feet like Børn and Dansko that were once deemed dorky are now super cute. It’s kind of like the footwear equivalent of pugs, adorable and lovable in their own weird little way. But because these shoes are by definition large it changes how you can wear them, specifically with jeans (say buh-bye to your skinnies), but we’ll get into that later. Over the course of the month I’ll show you how to style each of the footwear styles I’ve shown below, mules, clogs, wedges, and flatforms.
