Apologies folks but you’ve got a substitute writer today, in for Julia who may or may not have food poisoning. But luckily she was going to talk about men’s style anyway, so I don’t feel too out of my element with this Pinterest Picks. If we were going to talk about hair or wedge sandals or nail polish or flower arrangements this post would be a lot shorter. Anyway, spring might be the hardest season to dress for as a guy. The weather is inconsistent, there’s rain and wind, and then the random 3 day stretch of 80+ degrees followed by a day in the 50s. The colors available are either too safe or too on the nose with pastels and Eastery tones. So in short, spring is complicated! But complicated is more fun.
I’m lucky in that my workplace is pretty casual, so as soon as we experience that first 70 degree day in April, I’m basically in t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers until October. But most of us aren’t that lucky, or that lazy (honestly yeah I’m pretty lazy when it comes to picking out my clothes for work). And work is one thing but what does one wear to a spring cocktail party or date? Thankfully before she got sick, Julia had compiled this collection of versatile springtime looks for men to help us all out. I would love any one of these outfits for work or play, because let’s be honest, being put-together feels amazing. You can’t be a boss (literally or figuratively) if your threads are less than on point. All that said, take a look at the outfits below to see how we all should be dressing this spring.
The Best Fabrics for Summer | Mr. Porter – Julia is obsessed with bomber jackets right now, and I guess I’m kinda confused by what does and doesn’t apply. Is this a bomber jacket? No idea, but it is definitely really fun. Like something out of Drive but less pretentious and perfect for layering this spring.
Street Looks from Milan Menswear Week Spring:Summer 2016 En savoir plus sur | Vogue Paris – I swear Tom Hardy has worn outfits similar to this in at least 3 of his movies, and for good reason. The cropped pants, burgundy sneakers, and quality overnight bag that is probably filled with money are stylish and very Euro. But the star is that fitted but not too fitted pullover.
Windsor Spring/Summer 2016 Men Look 18 – If I suddenly started wearing blazers to work it would confuse a lot of people, but if I did I’d want it to look a lot like this. A really smooth look from head to toe that you could wear to work or even to a casual wedding.
Streetstyle x Aboutyou.de | The Modern Man – Denim jackets are back, and ideal for spring outerwear. Layer them over a t-shirt, button down, or a funky pullover hoodie like here. Dark rinse jeans and white sneakers have been a spring staple since before I was born because it just works. Overall this feels like a very New York outfit.
Spring 2016 Menswear Greg Lauren Look 26 | Vogue – Hoodies are the best. They’re comfortable and functional. The rest of this outfit is equally comfortable and ready for a stroll to the grocery store. Plus according to Julia, “light gray looks good on guys,” so there’s that.
Windsor Spring/Summer Men Look 7 – A more realistic look for me to wear to work, the standouts here are the knit pants and lightweight trench. This is an outfit you could wear almost anywhere and look good doing it.
Streetstyle x Aboutyou.de | The Modern Man – More cropped pants, this time with a bomber jacket, plain white sneakers, and a t-shirt. A super easy look to re-create but one where every piece has to be properly fitted if you want to avoid looking sloppy.
Spring 2016 Menswear Brunello Cucinelli Look 26 | Vogue – This guy kinda looks like Daario from Game of Thrones, which is probably why Julia picked this out, but it’s also a really smart look for spring. Layer up a t-shirt with a denim button down and well fitted sport coat, with comfortable white pants and tan sneakers and you’re ready to take your lady out on the town.
