No, I am not getting married, but it is that time of year when wedding inspiration is all the rage. Bridal collections have been popping up on my snapchat for the past few weeks and even though I only occasionally write about wedding inspiration, I do love a good bridal collection. It’s along the same lines as appreciating NYFW, you cannot deny the power of a gorgeous dress. And after you’ve seen enough wedding dresses, you start to realize that you actually have designers you like more than others, three in particular have consistently caught my eye because they’re just so damn beautiful. The collections today include Monique Lhuillier which is romantic and glamorous, Marchesa dreamy and Italian, and Jenny Packham wonderfully bohemian.
What surprised me was that Dan liked a ton of the dresses from these collections. He’s usually very opinionated about runway shows and he even asked me which I liked best for myself. Somehow he wasn’t surprised by how expensive they are…which may be a good sign for future conversations where I convince him that I need a pricier dress… a girl can dream right?
Speaking of dreams, I follow the editorial director for The Coveteur on snapchat and I’m pretty sure she had at least four dresses for her wedding weekend in Austin, including a sequined number for the reception. That is what I call a wedding wardrobe. I’d be happy with one gorgeous gown. Even better if it can magically transform into something slightly different for the reception. The third Monique Lhuillier gown has a chiffon overlay that’s very dramatic, and you can remove it to reveal gorgeous form-fitting lace. But there are so many beauties to choose from, wouldn’t you just love to spend a day trying them on? From full on Cinderella gowns to a mint green and pink flower encrusted June Carter inspired dress or off the shoulder Italian style gown that’s dripping in drama.
