Back in the fall I shared my favorite and the best lip colors for the season. With the official start of summer just around the corner it’s time to introduce some must-have summer lip colors that are perfect for everyone. The fall was all about deep, moody shades that worked well then but may not be working anymore now that the sun is out. I want pops of color and neutral nudes. Colors that will work until my tan fades and it’s time to bundle up again. The only difference this time around is that I wanted to bring budget friendly options for every lady. I love a good MAC lip color but not everyone wants to spend the dough.
There are some great drugstore lip colors out there that we can all be introduced to. Let’s jump into the 3 best summer lip colors you’ll be wearing all season long.
Covergirl Katy Kat Matte in Coral Cat
Matte lip colors are still popular right now and for a good reason. Who wants a super glossy finish when they will be spending tons of time outside, wind blowing and hair in your face. I hate picking hair out of my lips when I wear gloss but love the colors a gloss can provide. The Katy Kat Matte range by Katy Perry introduces Matte Lipsticks that are lightweight and pack some color. I personally think Coral Cat is a great summer lip. It’s not too orange but not too bright. I am hesitant about corals because they tend to pull too orange on my lips but after a full day of wearing and reapplying I never had that problem with this color.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Addis Ababa
This lip color has been featured a handful of times in outfit posts. It was a last-minute splurge during a Target trip. I wanted a new pink lip color that wasn’t too bright (no hot pinks here) and wasn’t too soft (say no to the baby pinks). The result was Addis Ababa form NYX. I have a few of their matte lip creams and I love them so it’s no surprise that I love this color too. It’s truly the perfect pink for summer and has a long-lasting finish.
Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid in Nude Flush (c/o)
I received this lip color as part of an Influenster program and honestly wasn’t quite sure of the color. It came along with the Rebel Red which I obviously would like. But I’m picky when it comes to nudes. I’m a fair skin lady and most nudes just make me look sick and extra pale.
My natural lip has plenty of color so a nude needs to be able to work with and overcompensate for my natural lip. I wore it out one weekend running errands and received a few compliments from ladies I was talking to. I honestly forgot it was on my lips until someone asked what lovely color I was wearing. Even Adam made a comment about my lip color when I got home later that afternoon. So the color was a win! It’s a liquid matte but it’s super creamy and honestly left my lips feeling soft after an entire day of wearing it. It’s probably the one that I’ve worn the most and have layered with the Katy Kat Matte for a custom look.
