Last week I put together a gift guide for your gal pals with UncommonGoods and this week I’m here to show you how I’ve styled one of their pieces with my wardrobe. Before I jump into the outfit, let me quickly talk about UncommonGoods. They are a privately owned retailer that supports individual artists and makers. They feature everything from jewelry, decor, to handcrafted gifts. We’re focusing on their jewelry, but check out their gift section where they put together gift guides, including gifts for events like baby showers which you can see here. They also feature studio tours to give you an inside look at the maker’s workspace.

I’m wearing the Oco Geode Pendant by Emilie Shapiro. I used a few of her pieces in my gift guide but I had my eye on this pendant necklace because it’s so unique. I also love pieces with meaning or purpose and geodes are, “celebrated for their ability to help find emotional, physical, and intellectual balance.” What’s better than a beautiful stone around your neck that looks cute but also helps balance you out? Check out her studio tour here.

You may remember this shirt from last year’s day trip outfit post around this time. I wore this shirt with black shorts and showed off some seriously amazing watermelon shades. I’m still all for wearing burgundy in summer, but a reader pointed out that this shirt called for a necklace. I agreed, but I didn’t have anything that looked great until now. What I love about this combination is that the outfit is great for nighttime, dinner, work, but the necklace gives it a boho edge. Without the necklace the outfit is slightly one-note, but with the necklace it feels styled. And…balanced.

This is a year round outfit for me, with or without a jacket. I gotta say, we took these photos by a lake and even though summer is around the corner, it sure didn’t feel like it. Goosebump city! I’m keeping all my jeans ready and available until further notice, especially for nighttime wear. Last year I paired this blouse with shorts but I’m thinking date night is quite fine with black jeans and heels. Plus it’s easy to put together in a pinch. And it’s comfortable (even in heels!)

My only critique of the necklace is that the chain gets stuck on itself and flips the geode around. I love the chain and think it’s really beautiful and intricate, but having to readjust your necklace is a pain. I still love the necklace but that detail is worth noting. I was also worried that the geode might rub against my shirt. Delicate blouses don’t do well with rough stones. Thankfully, the designer put a smooth metal backing on the geode to keep your clothes safe. Awesome! That’s intuitive design for you.
