I’m feeling the heat of summer and I need some different ways to wear my hair. Wearing it down or in a ponytail just doesn’t cut it anymore. I need variety. I need style. And most of all I need something that’s easy. For the days I want to keep my head cool but don’t want to spend the time curling and styling, I have been reaching for the hairstyles below. Beat the heat with these 4 easy hairstyles that are great on any length!
You’ll Need: hair elastics and bobbi pins
Layered Ponytail
This is perfect for those that don’t want or know how to braid. It involves bobby pins and a hair elastic. Starting at your temples cross pieces of hair over in the back, alternating sides. I decided to twist my pieces as I crossed them over for a little bit of texture and to change it up. You can even braid the pieces back if you want to go wild! Continue this process down to the nape of your neck and secure with the clear elastic. I even took some pieces and wrapped it around the elastic to cover it up.
Half-Up Messy Braid
I prefer this look with a bit of texture and wave to the hair. It’s great on second day hair because the undone look is what you’re going for. To achieve this look you’re basically taking 2 braids, one from either side of the head, back towards the crown, then combining them into one big braid or twist. Secure with a clear elastic and pull random pieces out for that perfect messy look.
Fishtail Braid
I love a fishtail braid on longer hair. There’s just something about it that is different than a typical braid and easy to master. You are essentially working with 2 sections of half and crossing pieces from one side to the other…always with 2 sections. Here is a great and easy tutorial to get you started.
Double Knots
It’s so 90’s that I feel a good choker is needed. Part your hair down the middle (perfectly or a little off center) and secure each side into 2 loose, low buns using an elastic or bobbi pins. Keep the buns sleek but I prefer the messier look. This is the easiest of the 4 looks because you simply twist, pin, and go.
Tell me…what’s your favorite summer hairstyle?
