It’s no secret that I’m a fan of velvet. I’ve written about it enough times, and even covered it for an entire month of HSWI. Velvet is my jam. However, as we all know, velvet is not an easy fabric to keep pristine. And if you live in a rainy area you are definitely taking a risk when you wear velvet. The last thing you want to do is ruin your purse, shoes, or dress. That doesn’t mean you can’t wear velvet. You might consider buying a less expensive velvet piece that you can take chances with. Or, wear your velvet only when you know that it won’t be ruined. Like now (except not right now right now if you live in Seattle. Hello rain).
Pre-fall is a fantastic time to wear velvet. And if you’re lucky, you can rock velvet through the entire season. It’s getting a little colder, rainy days aren’t as likely…and if you’re like me wearing velvet will get you excited for everything fall has to offer. Like the leaves changing, and cozy sweaters, and witchy everything because Halloween! I love all things spooky and velvet has that old world, vampire, witch, supernatural sexy vibe. I admit, I am all for those spooky vibes and gosh darnit I do not care if one person thinks velvet is gaudy or old. It’s fun! And sumptuous. And can be very ladylike. Just look at those pink velvet boots!

ASOS Glamorous Embroidered Bomber Jacket In Velvet – Please bomber jacket trend, never die. I’m still loving all the fun, creative bomber jacket designs. First it was satin, now velvet. They’re fun. A little weird. And very cool.

Vero Moda Velvet Burnout Bomber Jacket – Luxe. And edgy. I want it. Plus it’s on sale. It’s a bit funkier than the other pieces in this roundup and another bomber jacket but it’s such a perfect going out jacket. Close to a leather jacket, but softer, not as in your face.
Zara Frilled Velvet Top – These were the kind of tops I used to wear to feel romantic. It’s both frilled and velvet. Maybe even a bit mysterious. It’s feminine and romantic, yet you can imagine wearing it and throwing a glass of red wine in someone’s face. Passion!
Daisy Street Pink Crushed Velvet Point Heeled Ankle Boots – If these aren’t the perfect boots for 2016. Pantone obsessives, these are for you. You better rock the sh*t out of these boots because they are magic.
Zara Crossover Velvet Dress – I love how this dress feels so old world glamour and yet it doesn’t feel out of place in modern fashion. It’s stunning. Here’s they’ve styled it down but you can bet this dress would get a lot of use, casually or more dressed up.
