It’s been awhile since I’ve done an outfit post and I feel a little out of practice! I’m still shy about taking photos in public and Dan is learning how to use a new lens so hopefully you stick with us as we figure this thing out. But I’m really happy about the change because full body shots are coming out a lot better! And I’m really excited that we were able to take these outfit photos featuring my new JORD wood watch with the upgraded lens. If you’ve read Style and Cheek for a while you may have noticed how I’d regularly pair my HSWI outfits with watches but have never seen me actually wear a watch until now. I really love the look of watches but I couldn’t decide what kind of style watch I’d want for myself. I knew I wanted it to be large, round, and have a simple face but I didn’t want it to be boring. Enter JORD wood watches. I’d first heard about JORD’s watches while watching one of Jordan Byers YouTube videos where she was wearing the exact watch I’m wearing today, which is the Frankie Ebony & Gold watch. This was right before I partnered with JORD and I was so surprised when Jordan said the watch was made of wood. I’d never heard of wood watches before (I assumed it was metal) and I loved the style.
If this is your first time hearing about JORD wood watches, let me give you a quick rundown. They’re hand-crafted wood watches available in many wood styles including ebony, sandalwood, bamboo, rosewood, walnut, and more. JORD only uses 100% natural wood and do not use toxic chemicals to treat or protect the wood. Watches are available for men and women and basically they’re beautiful and much more affordable than an equivalent designer watch. Take a peek guys. I knew this ebony and gold watch would look great with my winter wardrobe. Which is pretty much the same color palette as my spring and summer wardrobe only cozier. Ok, essentially I live in black and burgundy year round so this watch will look good no matter what. But it’s technically winter which means you gotta bundle up! Aside from a wool coat, my idea of bundling up is layering a sweater over a long sleeve shirt or bodysuit, though I’m still on the hunt for the perfect flattering chunky sweater. I have a bit of curve so I generally prefer fitted styles, especially with open sweaters and cardigans. But I’m on a bodysuit kick right now so I’ve been pairing a black bodysuit with this burgundy cardigan. This combo pairs wonderfully with the ebony and gold watch, lariat choker, and gold stacking rings (my jewelry go-to).
You don’t have to sacrifice style just because the weather is on the chillier side. While outside you’ll likely want to bundle up in a coat but the bodysuit and open cardigan is my casual hang-out outfit. To prevent the outfit from feeling too one note, lean on standout accessories to really make the outfit. I love the look of the large JORD wood watch face with the rings. If you’re not a fan of the choker trend, I suggest bringing in more gold with a delicate gold necklace. Maybe even add small gold earrings, or ear cuff. It’s a little edgy and has that shine that pairs well with the face of the watch.
