Spread Your Wings and Be Fly

Julia will you please find something to talk about OTHER than statement pieces? Says no one except my own brain. So yes, I think this might be the last post on anything “statement” related (see: shoes, jackets). But I really can’t help that this season is all about the big and bold. I went shopping for blouses at Zara and it was pretty much ALL statement sleeves. Like voluminous, drapey, bell, or ruffled sleeves. Did I walk into Zara or Stevie Nicks’s closet?

But I’m into it! It’s fine, it’s cool, because there are some really pretty blouses out there and while I thought the huge sleeve would look bat-shit (bat-winged!) it’s actually a good look. Especially in two cases. One, if you have really broad shoulders (like me), you end up looking kind of regal-ish with bell sleeves. It’s a strong look. Two, if you have narrow shoulders you can enhance your shoulders with ruffles (like the first white shirt for example) and achieve again a regal-ish look. Ta-da! Style tricks for dayz. So let’s all indulge in these days of loud blouses, because there would be nothing better than to see y’all in some of super fun shirts like the ones below.
