A Batman and Dumpling Weekend

Dan and I had an awesome weekend full of Batman. We spent Friday night watching Batman Begins and The Dark Knight to prepare ourselves for The Dark Knight Rises. I sincerely enjoyed all of them. I’m not a huge Batman person but I liked The Dark Knight Rises almost as much as The Dark Knight. If you’re interested in reading about the movie with NO spoilers (seriously, even the writer’s coworkers warned him about writing spoilers) check out this article from Grantland – Summermetrics: The Dark Knight Fades to Black. Bane and Selina Kyle (Catwoman) were a lot better than I thought they would be. There was definitely an ominous feeling throughout the movie that felt bigger than the first two movies- I was hooked. (Style and Cheek started with Batman!)

Before the movie we went to Din Tai Fung for dumplings! Lots of dumpling! (ok, surprisingly not that many, but it doesn’t take that much to give you a salty, lovely food baby).

Someone was very happy to be eating dumplings and then geeking out about Batman. :)

Pork and crab dumplings. They were super juicy!

Stuffing dumplings into your mouth makes for some fairly silly pictures. This is mid-chew. The juice is super hot! Not the most attractive food to eat but so good. Also, not pictured were one of my favorites: vegetable and pork dumplings.

Here are the pot stickers, shrimp/pork shiaomai and pork buns. Look at that steam! I have to take multiple bites of everything except the juicy pork and crab dumplings which are impossible to take a bite out of without losing all the juice. But with the others once you take a bite you can fill it with the chili sauce/soy/vinegar combination you’ve put together. We need to eat this again before I move.
